A rundown of this week's new releases reveals nothing too sharp, so let's just skip ahead to March and look at what's coming soon on Xbox and Xbox 360. Otherwise I'd have to talk to you about Final Fight: Streetwise, and really, the only thing you need to know about that game is that you don't want to play it.
The Xbox 360 should have a pretty good March. Or, at least, a March filled with new releases. College Hoops 2K6, Burnout Revenge, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter lead the charge next week. Three games at once? Man, it's like the
launch all over again! The rest of the month is also looking stocked, as we'll see The Outfit, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires, Rumble Roses XX, Far Cry: Instincts Predator, and what's this? Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? Wow. Well, when it comes to the Elder Scrolls series and releases, I'm always going to say "there's no way it'll make that date." It's just safer that way. But if you're an RPG fan, go ahead and hope I'm wrong. Maybe we'll all be surprised that way.
On the Xbox Live Arcade side of things, Astropop, Jewel Quest, and Feeding Frenzy are still
coming. The official Xbox site had them listed for February, but now they're all listed for March. Also, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting is still due along sometime this quarter. Since March is the end of the quarter, that technically should be out this month, too.
But there's more to life than just the Xbox 360. Your bulky, tank-like original Xbox isn't done yet, even if it wasn't designed to look like an inhale. There's a version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter due out here, too, along with Rainbow Six: Critical Hour, Driver: Parallel Lines, The Godfather, Major League Baseball 2K6, Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers, Painkiller: Hell Wars, and more. So, yes, in case you were wondering, March is going to be a busy month across the board.
April? Not so much. But that's just the way this crazy business operates. Releases bunch up around the end of the quarter for financial reasons that usually fall somewhere around "oh god, we've got to get this game out by the end of the quarter or we're doomed." My on-again, off-again love of the financial side of the game business doesn't go deep enough to give you the answers as to why things need to work that way, so I'll just type "stockholders" and "public company" and leave it at that. Stockholders. Public company. There, now we're all up on this stuff like some seasoned pros.
In other Xbox-related news, I crossed the 10,000-point mark on the Xbox 360 last weekend. Fight Night's points are pretty easy to get, and Full Auto has some easy points, too, so it wasn't much trouble to pick up a quick thousand points or so out of them. If you're as occasionally-obsessed with points as I am, or if you're just about to finally get a 360 and you're looking for some fast points, we'll have some more info on that in the very near future. Keep checking in with the site for more details.
