This week we're proud to present the single-player demo premiere of The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II. If you're into real-time strategy, chances are you've already seen some of our coverage of this one, and gotten the impression that we're pretty excited about how it's been shaping up. But forget about what we have to say--now you can sample the game for yourself and see what all the fuss is about. This meaty demo will pack in a tutorial and a skirmish mode, allowing you to play as a couple of new factions: the Goblins and the Dwarves. So yeah, be sure to come visit ebgames this Thursday to be among the first in the world to play the next Lord of the Rings game.

Next up, we recently got a chance to play Prey, the resurrected first-person shooter from Human Head Studios. This game looked surprisingly interesting ever since it was revealed at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but now we've got a full report for you about how it actually feels when you're running around in some of its wild multiplayer levels. Prey plays with your sense of direction and spatial awareness, which should make for some freaky levels but might also help make Prey one of the next big first-person shooters to really stick with people.

Also, we've got the good word on how Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is coming along, and it's coming along very well, as you'll glean from our latest preview. While the game is shipping later on this year after the likes of Empire at War and Middle-earth II, it's the follow-up to our 2003 PC Game of the Year, so we naturally can't wait to see how it finally turns out...especially since the new fantasy theme introduces a lot of inventive new units and gameplay. So if you're keen on some of these soon-to-be-finished RTS games, definitely don't rule out Rise of Legends either.
