This week we've got some good business for all us fans of swords and sorcery, and other similarly comfortable depths of nerddom. Come on, you know you love it, so log out of Azeroth for a minute and lend me your ear...or eye, or something. The point is, we've got some great stories for you, plus an exciting tournament coming up.
First up, we've got an exclusive scoop on Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, an upcoming real-time strategy game set in Games Workshop's
influential fantasy universe. As much as I'm a fan of Blizzard's real-time strategy games, I've been harping for years now about how Warhammer and its sci-fi counterpart Warhammer 40,000 are the real deal: These games offer gritty fantasy and sci-fi just how I like it, at any rate. My question is, will Mark of Chaos stack up to the relative quality of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War? From the look and sound of things, it seems promising, so read our impressions and check our developer interview for the scoop.
Next, we've got the good word on Guild Wars Factions, the forthcoming stand-alone expansion to one of last year's best, most innovative PC games...one that's still being widely played to this day, thanks to its compelling endgame and its freedom from those nasty subscription fees that make massively multiplayer harder to swallow (sure, technically Guild Wars isn't massively multiplayer, but it's close enough). In short, Factions sounds like it's going to add a lot more of what made Guild Wars so good in the first place: new classes, new skills for existing classes, new environments, and more. Read our hands-on report to find out what you can expect.
I also wanted to plug our latest tournament, this time for F.E.A.R., last year's
greatest, creepiest first-person shooter. Our tournament finals are this Friday
the 17th at 6:30pm PT, so be sure to tune in. If you've seen some of our recent
tournament broadcasts, then you know they can be a real spectacle, even if
you're not necessarily a huge fan of the game in question. But since everybody
loves F.E.A.R., we ain't going to have a problem getting you to show up, now,
will we? Hope you enjoy the show!
