What business does the third full week of March have being this crazy-insane? Not only are some major new releases shipping these days, but we've also got the annual Game Developers Conference happening in San Jose, California. Between all that, I can almost certainly guarantee you'll be virtually up to your eyeballs in exciting, new information if you come pay us a visit.
Let me start off by drawing your attention to the newly-announced Sid Meier's Railroads!, the next project from one of game design's living legends--and those of us who've whiled away untold hours on Sid Meier games in the past know that that's no hyperbole. Much like the Pirates! remake before it, Railroads! seeks to revisit one of Meier's classic games--Railroad Tycoon--and make it easier to get into, more attractive, and more addictive than ever before. Especially since it's coming hot on the heels of the brilliantly designed Civilization IV, we're naturally looking forward to this one.
Next, let me tell you about a little game called Oblivion, which couldn't have picked a more appropriate name for itself judging from what I've played of it so far. In case you couldn't join me for my 12-hour live gameplay marathon earlier this week, worry not, we've got plenty more coverage where that came from. Oblivion is, of course, the latest in the long-running Elder Scrolls role-playing series. And if you're like me and you greatly enjoyed Morrowind before it, then my impression so far is that you're going to be in for a similarly absorbing experience. I've had a great time playing it so far--but then again, I've got much more adventuring left to do before I'm ready to commit to a review.
Finally, we've got the good word on one of the more-controversial games to come out in a while: I'm talking about The Godfather, Electronic Arts' game adaptation of the classic Francis Ford Coppola film. This one had a lot of people thinking "train wreck", especially since Mr. Coppola once was quoted having said some not-so-nice things about the project. But when all was said and done, The Godfather game turned out fine--better than fine even. Just what sort of game is it? Check out our review for the full scoop.
And keep watching GameSpot these days, because we've got a ton of great stuff lined up for you around the Game Developers' Conference and beyond!
