The pre-E3 onslaught continues in the week leading up to the show. Little has come in the way of PS3 info, though a few key multiplatform previews and announcements yield some new details about what to expect. Plenty of new PlayStation 2 action, though, as well as a gaggle of new PlayStation Portable previews. All this a full week before the show even starts. It's like Christmas come early, or something.

As I lamented in last week's newsletter, the focus of pre-E3 coverage thus far has pretty much been on Sony's current systems, with very little in the way of PS3 info. Of course, that's not to say that there's none at all. Namco Bandai announced that both Ridge Racer 7 and Tekken 6 would be at E3 in some form, and Sega just let slip that a Full Auto sequel is coming exclusively to the PS3. Plus, we had the chance to sit down with the folks from Eden Studios to check out its upcoming horror adventure, Alone in the Dark. We've got an exclusive first look at the game, as well as a developer interview. Sure, it's a multiplatform game, but if you're anything like us, you're simply excited to get your hands on any tidbit of info you can for Sony's big new system, platform exclusivity be damned.

On the PlayStation 2 front, there's all sorts of preshow impressions stories for those who like their RPGs decidedly Japanese. For Square-Enix fans, we've got preshow reports on the upcoming prequel to Valkyrie Profile, titled Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, as well as the latest in the Mana franchise, Dawn of Mana. We also got a look at the first installment of the new .hack series, .hack//G.U. Vol. 1 Resurrection, as well as the latest (and last) episode of the Xenosaga...er, saga...Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra. In German, I think that means "Pronounceable subtitles are for suckers."

For all you Sony handheld lovers out there, perhaps the biggest stories of the week have been our hands-on reports of Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Killzone Liberation. Anyone who knows me knows that handheld 3D Tekken is something like a godsend, and thankfully, this version sounds like it's coming together into a worthy update of the arcade version of Dark Resurrection. As for Killzone, well, it's got me interested in playing a Killzone game again. OK, to be fair, I said the same thing about that demo of the new Killzone for the PS3 at last year's E3, but I'm kind of into Liberation's whole top-down perspective, tactical action thing. Could be neat.
