urgo2 PC games review
While you could be out there right now spending good money on a good copy of Oblivion if you haven't already, one of the nice things about PC gaming is you could still get your fix while being a total cheapskate...just as long as you have yourself a nice broadband Internet connection, that is. Specifically, we've got a bunch of new, free downloadable demos you ought to try.
But first, let me share with you our recent Q&A with the developers of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first
major expansion pack to Blizzard's extremely popular online role-playing game. We've got some tantalizing new details about the new player races, the flying mounts, and more of the other additions you can expect from Burning Crusade. As for me, I forcibly kicked my World of Warcraft habit some months ago, but I'm thinking this will be all the excuse I need to dive back in. I very nearly did just on account of wanting to see the new weather effects introduced in the most recent patch.
On to our demos. First up, we were proud to present the premiere the single-player demo for Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, the spin-off sequel to one of the best real-time strategy games of the past few years. Above all, the original Rise of Nations was very well designed, but the historical setting gave the game a naturally familiar look and feel. Rise of Legends goes off in a completely new direction with its three distinct fantasy races, and you'll get to test-drive one of them in this demo. Give it a shot and see if Rise of Legends has what it takes to beat out its tough RTS competition this year.
We've also got the demo for Tomb Raider: Legend, which marks the highly
anticipated return of Lara Croft to the gaming scene. Hopefully Ms. Croft will start this next adventure of hers off on the right foot. What with a new developer at the helm, and plenty of new moves and abilities in Lara's arsenal, there's a good chance this Tomb Raider game will be the shot in the arm this series really needs. Try the demo and see for yourself, or stay tuned for the game's release and our full review next week.
