If you're having trouble getting down the basics of Dead or Alive 4, we've got a starter guide that'll get you off on the right foot with general strategies and some tips for each character. It makes a solid companion to the game's sparring exercise mode, if you're just getting started. But even if you're familiar with the series, you might see a few things here that you didn't already know. Either way, it's probably worth a look.

Over on the regular Xbox, Black is the game that everyone's waiting to see more of. We've got an updated look at the game's asylum level along with a new piece of video where one of the game's creators, Criterion's Alex Ward, breaks down and gives out some new info about the upcoming shooter.

This week's new Xbox games include Samurai Shodown V, 25 to Life, and MVP 06 NCAA Baseball. That's a sizable list for such a slow period. In other news, it sounds like the great Xbox 360 catch-up is rolling along. Game retailer GameStop (that's Stop, not Spot, so please stop writing in and asking us where your games are because we don't know) is reporting that they should have all of their Xbox 360 pre-orders covered next month. So that's good news for those of you sitting on your hands, waiting for your pre-orders to finally get filled. And that probably means that we're not too far off from (gasp!) actually seeing an Xbox 360 premium system sitting on a shelf, waiting for an owner.

On a final note, here's the thing that's been annoying me about the Xbox 360 lately. So I finally got around to setting up the media sharing features by installing Windows Media Connect on my PC. First I had to undo all the networking hoodoo that the stupid Nintendo USB Wi-Fi adapter did when I installed it because apparently the Nintendo DS dongle and Windows Media Connect don't get along. So I guess I'll never play Mario Kart online ever again. Oh well, no great loss, right? After getting it all installed, it still doesn't work unless I bring down my firewall every time I want to connect. And on top of that, the navigation for music is a complete mess. I have my library set up in the iTunes style, so each artist has its own folder... so I have around 3,200 artists. That's a lot of scrolling just to get down to Goldie Lookin' Chain. Maybe I should set up a playlist or something. Either way, it's all more of a hassle than it probably should be.
